Brinjal kolari - my grandma style!

Breakfast @ 9
I started off my day with 3 idlis, dithir sambhar (instant sambhar) and spicy milagai podi (gun powder).

Snack @ 11
A glass of buttermilk with kala namak (black salt) for flavor. This does wonders to the parched throat in the summers.

Lunch @ 1.30
When it was lunch time, I was so ravenously hungry that I couldn't even wait to set up the plate and photograph it! The menu for today is delicious paruppu sadam (dal-rice-ghee) & kattirikkai kolari (brinjal stew).

Snack @ 5
A cup of tea and an apple.

Dinner @ 8

Crispy whole grain instant dosai to kickstart the day

Breakfast @ 9
I had 3 crispy wheat-rice-rava dosais and tomato chutney for breakfast. I was so excited to make these dosais and they came out perfectly crispy and delicious. My dosais are flying-saucer crisp without much oil at all and thats due to the ingredients used!

Snack @ 11
A tall glass of buttermilk is always welcome. I love it with kala namak (black salt) in it which gives it a nice taste and flavor.

Lunch @ 2
I had an almost zero oil lunch today with a big bowl of kothavarangai poriyal (steamed cluster beans), mixed vegetable arachuvitta sambhar (spices freshly ground into the sambhar) and the tam-brahm staple curd rice.

Snack @ 5
I had a plate of crumpled khakhra and assorted nuts mixed together to make a crunchy and healthy snack. I loved snacking on this along with a cup of tea.

Dinner @ 8
2 rotis, a cup of barbatti dal (also called chavli/karamani/black-eyed beans) and bhindi sabji at 8 o clock made me feel nice and light. I took a half an hour walk after this for the food to settle in and then played ludo with my daughter (Hamleys lovely wooden ludo board is our family favorite)!
